Corrections process.
If you represent a carrier, aggregator, or lead vendor and believe InSifter has published factually inaccurate information about your company, we want to know. We respond to all good-faith correction requests promptly and transparently.
Our principles
InSifter is committed to publishing accurate information about the independent insurance market. Our policies are modeled on the corrections practices of established review and rating platforms.
- We correct factual errors. If we have published something objectively false, we will fix it.
- We do not remove unfavorable opinions or ratings. Ratings and reviews represent the opinions of contributing agents and our editorial team. Disagreement with a rating is not grounds for removal.
- We respond to all requests. Even where we ultimately disagree with a request, we will explain our reasoning.
- Where appropriate, we publish official responses. Companies that wish to respond publicly to a rating, review, or piece of content can have their response published alongside the original content.
What this process is for
Examples of factual corrections we will make:
- Incorrect AM Best rating, founding year, headquarters, or other static company facts
- Incorrect listing of states a carrier writes in
- Incorrect listing of lines of business written
- Outdated commission rate published as current
- Misattributed quote or review
- Spelling or factual error in editorial summary
Examples of requests that fall outside this process:
- Requests to remove an agent rating because the rating is unfavorable
- Requests to remove an agent review because the company disagrees with the reviewer's opinion
- Requests to suppress aggregated commission data because publication is undesirable
- Requests to remove a company entirely from the directory because of unflattering coverage
For requests that fall outside the corrections process, we still welcome dialogue. We may publish an official company response alongside disputed content.
