"Every agent has asked the same question at some point — am I getting paid fairly? The answer was always 'it depends' or 'ask around.' That's not good enough."

Why InSifter exists

Independent insurance agents constantly need to know which carriers pay best for the lines they write, which aggregators pass through the most commission, which carriers have appetite in specific states, and how long carriers actually take to pay claims and commissions.

That information currently lives scattered across Facebook groups, Reddit threads, word of mouth, and outdated forum posts. There has never been a single trustworthy, searchable, up-to-date source — and the absence has cost agents real money for decades.

Carriers, aggregators, and IMOs benefit from this information asymmetry. When agents don't know what their peers earn, compensation negotiations stay tilted toward the carrier. Nobody with money has been incentivized to fix this — until now.

What we're building

InSifter is the single source of truth for insurance agent intelligence. A platform where agents anonymously report real compensation data, review carriers and aggregators, evaluate raters and lead vendors, and make informed business decisions — all in one place.

Think of it as Glassdoor meets NerdWallet, built specifically for independent insurance agents.

Built from inside the industry

InSifter is not a Silicon Valley startup guessing what agents need. It was built by people who work in this industry every day — who talk to agents, sit across from them at industry events, know the pain points firsthand, and have the relationships to seed this platform with real data from day one.

That insider perspective is what makes InSifter different. Every feature exists because an agent somewhere needed it and couldn't find it. We are not guessing.

We've made a deliberate decision to keep the team behind InSifter anonymous for now. There are practical reasons: many people in this industry have employment relationships that make public outside-business activity complicated, and we believe the value of the platform should rest on the quality of its data and the integrity of its methodology — not on the personal reputation of any one founder. Once the team is in a position to step out from behind the platform, you'll hear from us directly.

Independence is non-negotiable

InSifter is operated independently of any carrier, aggregator, MGA, IMO, lead vendor, rater, or AMS provider. We do not accept paid placements. We do not let carriers buy higher ratings. We do not sell agent contact information to recruiters. We do not run advertisements that compromise the integrity of our reviews.

If the platform ever needs revenue beyond a free model, it will come from optional Pro features paid for by agents themselves — never from the vendors agents are evaluating. That separation is the entire foundation of the platform's value, and we will not compromise it.

How we handle data

Every piece of agent-contributed data on InSifter is anonymous by default. We never publish names of individual agents alongside their commission data, ratings, or reviews. When agents opt in to contribute their personal commission information for the public averages, the data is aggregated and de-identified before it appears anywhere.

Our full methodology explains where the data comes from, how it's verified, and where its limitations lie. Carriers, aggregators, and vendors who believe a published claim is inaccurate can submit a correction request through our corrections process. We respond within 10 business days.

The power of community

Every agent who contributes data makes the platform more valuable for every other agent. This creates a compounding effect that's extremely difficult for any competitor to replicate. The first platform to achieve critical mass of real, agent-reported data wins — and the agents who help build that data set benefit the most.

Our commitments

We will never sell agent data to recruiters, vendors, or anyone else without explicit consent. We will never charge agents to submit reviews — that kills participation. We will never let carriers, aggregators, or vendors pay to boost their ratings — that destroys trust. We will always show agent-reported data alongside any company-provided data, so discrepancies speak for themselves. And we will always operate the platform independently from the entities being reviewed on it.
